Seeking 1 Male Housemate

Hello!

Our Catholic men’s house in Silver Spring, MD has a room opening beginning in August. We are a longtime group house (affectionately known as ‘Valhalla’ to its present and former occupants) that would love to hear from you if you’re interested in a place for the upcoming school year.

Our house is located about 3 minutes (by foot) from the Forest Glen metro stop on the Red line, which is almost exactly 15 minutes to the CUA metro stop. It’s in a quiet and suburban part of Silver Spring (far from the antics of Brookland), with easy access to grocery shopping and beautiful parks/walking trails. We are also an 8 minute walk from the weekly TLM at Old St. John’s, as well as a 12 minute walk to new St. John’s, and a short drive to St. Bernadette’s.

The house itself is a 5 bedroom, 2.5 bathroom. The room is an upstairs bedroom for $580/mo. + utilities (~$100/mo). The lease is month-to-month, and while the room opens August 1st, we are very flexible with move-ins, from late July to mid-September. There are five of us that live in the house–we like to keep things clean, and enjoy spending time together watching movies, talking philosophical/theological shop, or hosting the occasional party.

Please email me at [email protected] if you’re interested. We’ve hosted many CUA men (including myself) over the years, and regularly have openings, so feel free to shoot me a message about any future openings or rooming possibilities as well!

Seeking Female Tenant for Help with Chores and Childcare

Posted July 24, 2023

My name is Kristin Hurd, and my husband Nathaniel and I are seeking a Catholic female tenant who can help with our home and children 10-12 hours a week, in exchange for room and board.

Available for the academic year (End of August 2023-May 2024).

We live in Hyattsville, Maryland, within walking distance to St. Jerome’s Catholic Church and a close commute for Catholic U, where I work part-time.

We have three children, ages 6.5, 4 and 1.5. We are looking for a Catholic woman who can ideally provide childcare and help prepare or clean up from meals on an agreed upon schedule based on both of our needs.

The bedroom is a bright, newly renovated space in our basement with a semi-private bathroom (we do use it occasionally during the day). The rest of living space (laundry, kitchen, etc.) is shared.

We can furnish the room or tenant may bring her own items. All utilities and internet are included. Should availability change, we can negotiate a rate to pay some rent in order to lessen hours.

If you are interested, please contact me by email at [email protected] for more information.

Seeking 1 Female Housemate

Hello! My two housemates and I are Catholic / Anglican graduate students at Catholic University, and we are looking for a fourth housemate to move into an open room in our house in the Woodridge neighborhood of DC (on the east border of Brookland). The room will be available early September, but an earlier move in date might be negotiable.
The house has four bedrooms, a spacious living room, dining room, kitchen, breakfast nook, and sunroom, as well as a large basement. The furniture in the room is available for purchase, if desired. Housemates also have access to use of a treadmill, keyboard and backyard with vegetable garden. A few photos of the house are available here.
Cost: $790 per month, plus $120 for utilities (on average).
Transportation: We are a mile away from the Brookland-CUA metro stop, and 2-3 blocks from the G8 and E2 buses. We have plenty of unzoned street parking, so no RPP needed, and a garage.
Please reach out with questions if interested! Contact Cristina at [email protected].

Room in Hyattsville Home

Posted July 14, 2023

Come live in our basement!  We’re a couple in our mid-thirties, both of whom graduated from the Institute’s MTS (where we met!), and the male half of whom graduated from the Ph.D in 2018. We have four kids (8, 6, 3, and 1). Our home is in Hyattsville, just three miles from the Institute, in a lovely neighborhood right across the street from the vibrant St. Jerome’s parish.

The basement is furnished, and it has a separate entrance. It boasts two bedrooms, each with its own full bathroom; a kitchen; and a dining room/common area. There’s also a laundry room with a washing machine and dryer, which we would share. One of the bedrooms is already occupied (by a PhD candidate at the Institute), but the other room (and attendant bathroom) will be vacant in the coming school year. Our current tenant is male, so you, his potential basement-mate, will need to be male as well. The available bedroom is just over 200 sqft, with a big walk-in closet. Rent is $825/month, and the room will be available at the beginning of July.

Please contact Mike at [email protected] if you have any questions or would like any more information!

Seeking 1 Male Roommate

I am a newly accepted student at the Pontifical JP II Institute in DC. I just signed a lease (Aug. 24, 2023 – May 31, 2024) to rent a fully-furnished, studio-style room beautifully built on the second floor of a barn (1st floor is a woodshop that we can use). The Landlord has agreed to allow me to search for a roommate in order to split the rent. Rent, if split, will be $450/mo (plus utilities). The barn is adjacent to a separate, neighboring house occupied by 2 women (CUA students) with whom we split the utilities. Parking is on the street – the Landlord says he hasn’t heard of any incidents. There is room in the barn to store bicycles on the 1st floor. The location is about 10min from CUA/the Basilica/the JP II Institute. As a last thing, I will also likely be bringing my small dog (Bichon Frise) who will be living in the barn as well.

Based on what I have seen, this is a great price and area for a man who is comfortable sharing their living space. Please email me if you are interested: Dixon at [email protected].

Three Females Looking For One Female Roommate For House

Posted April 21, 2023

Hi. My name is Nicole. Me and two other women are looking for a fourth female roommate to rent out of a house in the Arlington area closer to DC area, but not in DC. The house that we have our eyes on is a house in Arlington and it’s near the metro (five minutes walking distance). We need one more lady to live with. Text me, or email me if you’re interested. (516) 650-8170, [email protected]. The rent would be $1075 plus utilities. I would need you to move in by June 1st.

A little about me: I am a very passionate Christian. I work as a journalist for The Christian Post Newspaper, which is a news publication that reports the news nationally and internationally using a biblical worldview. It is a very rewarding job and I view it as a ministry.

I am also earning my master’s degree in seminary school at Regent University in their fully online practical theology master’s program. Although Christian journalism is my full time job and passion, I am an aspiring part time young adult pastor.

I am in my mid-twenties (26). I am very neat and I love to clean. I have no pets but, I’m not opposed to living with them. I enjoy going to church, Bible study, and singing worship. I sang lead worship for nearly four years at my church when I lived in New York. I love to read and write, go for brunches, exercise, and go for bike rides. I love to encourage other people and I love to watch movies; romantic comedies are my go to. Text me if you’re interested in being our roommate.

2 Furnished Bedrooms in Alexandria

Posted April 11, 2023

Hello All! My wife, Genevieve, and I have two fully-furnished, sunny, and large bedrooms available for rent in our 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom home in Alexandria, VA. Our house is just 2 blocks from the Huntington Metro station, and is only an 8-minute drive from the Basilica of Saint Mary in Old Town Alexandria! Bedroom 1 is $1095/month and will be available in November 2023. Bedroom 2 is $945/month and will be available in June 2024. Utilities and internet are included in the rent! Click here to view photos.

The huge size of the bedrooms, combined with the obscenely fast gigabit internet connection make our house an excellent place to work or study from home. Both bedrooms are upstairs and share a large, full bathroom. We will happily fully furnish both bedrooms, and we will provide a mattress, bedframe, desk, chair, and decorations free of charge. If you would like to bring your own furnishings, that is fine too. While the property is now redecorated (and way cuter!), pictures can be seen at our Zillow link, which we will send you if you reach out 🙂

Our neighbors have been unbelievably welcoming, and the whole neighborhood really seems to look out for each other. Not to mention, the Catholic Young Adult community at the Basilica is crazy active!! After the 10AM Sunday Mass, over 50 of us gather at a house across the street for coffee, snacks, and community 🙂 Genevieve and I were blown away by the welcoming and friendly nature of the community at the Basilica, and we cannot wait to get more involved with their frequent Holy Happy Hours (which are as awesome as they sound).

Genevieve and I both graduated from Virginia Tech (Go Hokies!!) with degrees in Aerospace Engineering in 2022. We would love to build up a fun community of young people who can attend Mass together and support each other. We take lots of vanlife trips, and we are huge National Parks people who love to hike, bike, and travel. Also, we love to cook, bake, and share 🙂
