Our Lady Star of the Sea is a Catholic Liberal Arts elementary school located in Bremerton, WA. We are seeking an experienced, dedicated teacher to serve in our Middle School.
The purpose of our school community is to cultivate missionary disciples who are fully alive in Jesus Christ. Our school guides children into a meaningful friendship with Jesus Christ and a daily life patterned on the Catholic faith. Students discover that our Lord illuminates reason, gives richer meaning to all learning, and enlivens culture. Thus, they grow in virtue and the fruits of the Holy Spirit. This relationship directs their lives to Jesus’ Gospel mission in an apostolic age, that is, a time when most people have not heard the Good News of Jesus. Our core purpose is to cultivate students who evangelize not merely through words, but through an incarnational presence: when people encounter our students, they are attracted to God through them.
The pillars of our school philosophy and curriculum and life are Christ-Centeredness, Faith & Reason, Virtue, Discernment, Beauty, Relationships & Family, and Catholic Social Teaching.
Our Mission Statement: Under the patronage of our Blessed Mother, the mission of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic School is to support parents in their role as the primary educators of their children. Our classical training nourishes students’ natural sense of wonder and guides them to know and love what is genuinely good, true, and beautiful. Faithful to the teachings of the Catholic Church, we form our students to be virtuous disciples of Jesus Christ and joyful witnesses to the Gospel.
Our Lady Star of the Sea currently serves 235 students in Preschool through Eighth Grade. We are delighted to have a school staff who embrace the mission of Catholic Liberal Arts Education and to have the Sisters of St. Cecilia of Nashville as a part of our community.
The Position: OLSOS seeks a full-time Middle School teacher to instruct Humanities classes with a focus on History and Composition. The ideal candidate will bring a knowledge and love of history, literature and writing to share with our Middle School students while modeling the love of the Catholic faith and a life of virtue.
