Dr. Michael Hanby, Associate Professor of Religion and Philosophy of Science, will present at Touchstone Magazine’s 2022 fall conference titled “Something Wicked This Way Comes: Diabolical Fantasies & the Mystery of the Real.”

Dr. Hanby’s talk entitled “What’s New about the New Totalitarianism?” will be on Thursday, October 13, 2022 at 7:50 p.m. (Central Time).  The conference will take place at Trinity International University in Deerfield, IL.

Other featured speakers include Hans Boersma, Allan Carlson, Rod Dreher, Joshua Mitchell, Carl Trueman, and R.V. Young.

Conference Description:

A diabolical fantasy is a false image that presents itself as something real. “Transgender woman” and “gay marriage” are two obvious examples of diabolical fantasies that mean to replace the reality of sex and marriage in God’s created order. Christians must disentangle ourselves from the unrealities of our age because “by the pricking of my thumbs, something wicked this way comes.”

The Touchstone conference brings together Protestant, Roman Catholic, and Eastern Orthodox Christians, a tradition-bound gathering of what C. S. Lewis called “Mere Christianity.”
