Summer Course: “Theology of the Laity”

July 20 at 9:30 AM - July 24 at 3:00 PM

The John Paul II Institute invites you to join an intensive course on the Theology of the Laity as part of the Institute’s Continuing Education Program.

This one-week course offers an in-depth study of the theological foundations and mission of the laity, centered on the words of Lumen Gentium: “The laity consecrate the world itself to God.” We will discuss topics such as the relationship of the Church and the world, the relationship between the hierarchy and the laity and especially why the laity are essential to the salvific work of Christ in the modern world. Under the guidance of authors such as Pope John Paul II, Cardinal Ratzinger, Hans Urs von Balthasar and Venerable Madeleine Delbrêl, we hope to draw to the fore the ecclesial significance of the lay vocation and thereby equip them for their mission in the world.

The course meets Monday through Friday, July 20-24, 9:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m., and 1:30-3:00 p.m. Class will be taught in person and offered online simultaneously.

In addition to this course, the Institute is offering a course on “Called to Love: Theology of the Body“. Classes will take place Monday through Friday, July 13-17, 9:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m., and 1:30-3:00 p.m.

Each course fee is $150. To register, please complete the online registration form. Payment can be submitted via check, cash, or credit card. To submit a credit card payment, please click here.
