“Faith and American Culture” Summer Intensive Course

July 24, 2023 at 9:30 AM - July 28, 2023 at 3:00 PM

Declaration of Independence

Join us for a week-long intensive course to explore the relationship between Catholicism and the American tradition.

This course ponders the main assumptions of America’s liberal tradition as articulated by its formative thinkers and various interpreters. The reflection is primarily ontological and theological in nature. Its terms are set by the Catholic view of being and the person as gift (as developed in the Second Vatican Council and in Communio theology), on the one hand, and by the patterns of life, thought, and action in America, on the other.

The course meets Monday through Friday, July 24-28, 9:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m., and 1:30-3:00 p.m. Class will be taught in person and offered online simultaneously.

The course fee is $150. To register, please complete the online registration form. Payment can be submitted via check, cash, or credit card. To submit a credit card payment, please click here.

Registration for the course closes Thursday, July 20.

Numerous high schools in the Archdiocese of Washington and the Diocese of Arlington accept this course toward VCEA licensure or CEU requirements for teachers.
