Continuing Education Course: Faith and American Culture

September 6, 2023 at 6:30 PM - December 6, 2023 at 8:30 PM

St. Patrick Cathedral

The Fall 2023 course in the Institute’s ongoing Continuing Education Series will be “Faith and American Culture”.  It will be held on Wednesday evenings from September 6 to December 6, 2023.

This course ponders the main assumptions of America’s liberal tradition as articulated by its formative thinkers along with its various interpreters. The reflection—theological, philosophical, and historical in nature—is informed both by the Christian proposition that man is imago Dei and by the view that man cannot but be shaped by his culture. The primary concern of the course is whether Christian anthropology is commensurate with the principles that underlie America’s founding.

Class will be taught in person in McGivney Hall on Catholic University of America’s campus in Room 006, and offered online simultaneously.

The class fee is $150. To register, please complete the online registration form. Payment can be submitted via check, cash, or credit card. To submit a credit card payment, please click here.

This course can be taken toward renewal requirements for VCEA licensure. Numerous high schools in the Archdiocese of Washington accept the course for CEU credits.
