Called to Love - Person, Body, and the Civilization of Love

At the heart of the OCPF's work as described in the Statement of Purpose is the promotion of what Pope Paul VI called the "civilization of love," through a deep reflection on and communication of the "anthropology of love" ("theology of the body") developed in the pontificates of John Paul II, Benedict XVI and Francis. In a word, that anthropology is the recognition of what the Incarnation of Jesus Christ illuminates: the human person's very being is rooted in the gift of love and his fulfillment lies in a life lived in grateful response to it. That the human person is embodied always as either male or female is the expression of this anthropology of love.

The Center's cultural and pastoral activities concerning this central insight are guided in particular by the newly published re-introduction of the famous "Wednesday Catecheses" of John Paul II, Called to Love: Approaching John Paul II's Theology of the Body, by Fr. José Granados and Carl Anderson.
