As part of the Center’s ongoing dialogue on health and the nature of medicine, faculty members from the John Paul II Institute, the Mayo Clinic, and St. George’s Hospital, London, met for a weekend symposium on the implications of the body-soul unity on the practice of medicine and on the criteria for brain death, in conversation with the work of philosophers Robert Spaemann and Nicholas Tonti-Filippini.  They also discussed changes to the joint course offered each spring through the Institute, and the expansion of the collaboration of the Center and the Mayo Clinic group into other projects.
