Health and the Nature of Medicine Symposium

As part of the Center’s ongoing dialogue on health and the nature of medicine, faculty members from the John Paul II Institute, the Mayo Clinic, and St. George’s Hospital, London, met for a weekend symposium on the implications of the body-soul unity on the practice of medicine and on the criteria for brain death, in conversation with the work of philosophers Robert Spaemann and Nicholas Tonti-Filippini.

Health & Nature of Medicine - JPI 611

This special Spring Semester Graduate Course will consider the meaning of health and the nature of medicine in the light of their historical development, the Church's understanding of the human person, and the state of modern medicine. Special attention will be paid to the meaning of the body and human suffering and to the challenges faced by physicians and other health care workers in a contemporary setting.
